Those who need help and try to get it know a little bit more why our mental health system does not work. Too bad no one really seems to care or listen.

I have had. Sooo... if doctors do not think people who want and need good mental health doctors do not talk...they do. Always the same ..the bad ones are bad for everyone and the good practitioners like ms. Givens at Memorial help their patients and their patients talk about them.

to start off i have been there two times and all you do is just sit around and when you try to talk about your problems and how you feel with the counselors they dont listen they just sit there on their phones or try to give you medicine to "help" (something to make you fall asleep) anyways another thing is while i was there they wanted us to interact with each other and talk but yet they always kept us in our rooms also the staff are so rude they have an attitude about everything theres maybe 1-2 staff members that were actually nice at the time i would not recommend this place to anyone it did not help me at all

I was there for 8 days. It's not a long stay care facility, and is only for a few weeks stay. You have to go to group meetings just to eat in the cafeteria. You don't go to the meetings, and it will prolong your stay. Now the people who work there are very nice to the patients. ..even the ones who don't even talk. They do give you lots of meds if you are agitated. If you are chill , they will just give you small amounts of meds. Most people there had tried to end their lives, so they just want to get you stable before moving to the next place or home. The groups really helped me.

I have been seeing ms Morgan there for years. I've never had a problem with anyone there. Everyone has always been very kind and helpful. I would recommend them to anyone.

I've been twice for a week at a time..for me it was a dreadful experience.. I did not sleep at all and was totally exhausted when I was finally released. A friend took me to Gulf Oaks, they put me on Lexapro the first day, they have an awesome staff and within 3 days I had improved, was released on day 5 given Rx with refills to take until I could get into a doctor..in summary Gulfport Behavioral Health employees do not seem qualified to treat mental illness successfully. I know many people who've been there, and like myself will not go thru it again. Thankfully we have some wonderful facilities in the area and therefore we have choices.

Anyone who needs mental health doctors or a NP I wish you the best. It is like we are fighting two battles; one your emotional problems, the other the medical providers who you have to deal with.

I have gone to memorial for more than a decade. The only help I ever got was from Ms. Givens. Got her because the Dr. I had had to quit due to personal issues. If you have a child that needs help she is probably the best on the coast. The Drs I have had are case studies of their own. One was so detached from me as a patient I considered her dangerous. Not that she should feel bad, she is not the first Dr. in mental health that has treated their patients that way. I use to go, in the late 90's to a psychiatrist on Broad Ave that would tell me if I went to mass I would not have any problems. I think he is out of the system now.

I have several friends that have shared the same mental health practitioners stories from different facilities on the coast, some
